Today, I had a bitter taste of the crummy country Malaysia is. My mum and I parked the car somewhere near the clinic where I was supposed to be operated on and about half an hour later, we returned to see a a group of 'law enforcers' towing my mum's car away. My mum was like 'DON'T TOW MY CAR AWAY!' but they were adamant. There were no other parking spaces around that area so we parked in front of a Tenaga Nasional station. To my knowledge, we weren't told that the space in front of a Tenaga Nasional station was out of bounds to motorists. I was furious cause this was blatantly a trivial matter and I tried to reason with the officer in charge. I told him that we were at the clinic and that we had an appointment and there weren't any parking spaces left (trust Malaysia to have about a hundred parking spaces for a humongous row of shophouses, where the number of cars probably outnumber the number of citizens). I don't think they understood English cause all they did was say 'TAK BOLEH PARK KAT SINI' which literally means cannot park here. By this time, I was beyond control. I totally lost it. I said(in a not too inaudible tone) "F*** f*** f***" while waving my middle finger( I was pissed okay). Then this malay police officer comes up to me and says to me "Kau nak senang atau nak susah?" which means do you want the easy way or the hard way. My, this guys sure moves fast, I hardly even know him and here he is asking me how I wanted him. Well, actually he was actually threatening me. He said "Kamu sangat bising kau ingat aku tak faham kau cakap fak fak fak". Translation: You're very noisy and rude. You think I don't know what fak fak fak means? By this time, I was purple with rage. The balls of the guy to threaten me. So the car was towed away. At least we got it light. There was this ther incident involving a Chinese teenager who as soon as he saw his car being towed away, jumped into his car. The tow operators attacked him and killed him. I don't know what has become of that case but it terrifies me to think that such brutality exists in Malaysia, a supposedly harmonius and peaceful nation.

I take back whatever I said about Malaysia. Yes I love this country and will remain loyal to it but this kind of attitude is very unbecoming of a country that wants to establish itself as a world class city. Law enforcers misuse and overuse their power. They are unprofessional and racist plus they hardly speak any English. Another incident that I can cite as an example would be when me and my dad were outside Puduraya. The whole road was jammed and when we neared the conjestion, we realised that this car had stopped at the side of the road to wait to pick up his passenger. This asshole had parked his car on a busy main road causing a multitude of cars behind him severe stress from all that jam and ironically, two uniformed policemen were standing ten metres from the scene chatting away.

If this country does not improve itself and straighten out its flaws and loopholes, Malaysia will never be an ideal country to live in. The authorities always question why their young talents are always flying the nest and residing in other countries. As long as they don't lose their rose-coloured glasses and rectify this problem, young professionals will not choose to return to Malaysia. Dumb natas!

So my mum is stuck with a $300 fine and I am going to write a letter(in Bahasa Malaysia no less) to appeal the summon and hopefully we'll get a lighter fine. The operation went smoothly and was relatively painless. However, I am still fuming at the sheer stupidity and high-handedness of the authorities.
