it's so funny that this is probably the only band to have a template for their songs and videos. there's leadsinger shane who almost carries all the songs by himself and then there are the other three members who might as well be background vocals because you never hear their voices. and then their videos, so formulaic. screen opens with a shot of all four, then a close up of leadsinger shane singing the first few bars, then the start of a narrative (probably involving some young, attractive couple mulling over something (conflict!)) then leadsinger shane, then couple fighting/becoming friendly, then chorus with all four, then couple getting together (resolution!), then leadsinger shane finishes song and looks wistfully past camera.
so kitsch. so fantastic.
