return of the king
alright dearest friends and countrymen, I'm back. at least for the moment. college life is definitely heating up. i've just had a wonderful weekend and hopefully i'll have a great time tomorrow in philly too.
last weekend, the men's tennis team were playing in an invitational tournament in maryland and because most of the guys were busy with other stuff, i got to go and it was really fun. i think the people on the team are really nice and they really don't look down on you if you don't play as well as them. and they're very funny people. and since we had the college credit card, we ate extravagantly at every meal. perhaps the best food i've eaten since i arrived. there was a real big burger on saturday for lunch, after which my feet turned to lead and i was left literally stunned when i played my next match. and then we had italian the next day and steaks on sat night. phew! but really, i think i have a bigger appetite than the rest of them. i thought americans all very 'tua chiak' (big sized), they ate a lot and constantly, but i find out that i eat just as much, maybe more than them.
the tennis matches were erm, to say the least, disappointing. i lost all 6 matches but what to do. we barely won a match...that's the standard of the men's team i guess, so it was all in good humor. but i did have some excellent shots but mostly really pitiful mistakes. i'm aching all over now from playing 6 matches in 2 days. it just hurts everywhere, like how i feel after cross-country or 2.4 day.
i'll be off to philly tomorrow for the immigration interview. it's been more than a month since i got here. time does fly. 8 more months and i'll be a sophomore/junior. wow. i hope i get some time to sightsee in philly. and i hope i dont get mugged/shot/raped.
also, things are picking up academically. i got 12/12 for an econs quiz, i got an A- for a bible paper and my article was published in the college newspaper.
there are just so many things to say now. everything that happens now is an experience :) . i really don't regret coming here and i hope it stays that way.

familiarity breeds content(edness)
was feeling down today because of the workload and isolation and then i meet a friend from india and we talk about indian food, bollywood, and bhangra and then everything seems better again.
quite stressed out about impending deadlines, cultural/social/academic expectations and cleaning bathrooms.
