alright guys, the moment you've all been waiting for.....photos! sorry i was too lazy to name the photos so i guess you have to fill in the blanks yourselves. and don't complain, crooked images and poor resolution is what you get when all you have to work with is a funky camera and a low range scanner.

jackass: the movie

anybody watched this movie? i was telling my pals about the show and everyone was disgusted that i would even want to watch it. but really, it was a disgusting show, but you have to admit, some of the scenes were disgustingly funny. it's one of those movies which distinguish a generation, right? i actually read about the movie in Time so i decided to download and watch it for myself. nothing shameful about it. no conclusion here.

the pianist

the pianist starring adrien brody is a pretty strong movie. but sorry, i wasn't paying enough attention to the movie. this morning was great. me and my pals, we met up at the mamak at sri hartamas and i had neslo ais for the first time in my life. verdict: tastes just like nescafe, couldn't really taste any milo in it. we then adjourned to 1957 to play Photo Hunt. I didn't know this but you can actually have erotic photo hunt. like you can choose between hunks and babes, and the photos are thus of semi nude models. naturally, i chose hunks.
after a coupla games, and name dropping (we entered our secondary school teachers names when we had a high score (high 5!)), we then went to ie-tsen's house to watch a pirated dvd. we settled for the pianist, but probably not an apt show to watch at 2 in the morning with a bunch of not too history inclined peeps. which brought up my inevitable question of which i have not been able to find the answer since sec 4, why is poland so important? stalin wanted it, hitler wanted it.
so back to the pianist, we kept predicting a gay scene but unfortunately, none enfolded. so now i'm waiting for my parents to give me a tongue lashing for coming back at 530 this morning.

tessa wong's blog

oh yeah. i also found tessa wong's blog. who's tessa wong? beats me ... but it seems like we have a lot in common:-

- she's with Sonic Edge, this christian group which does a lot of collaborative work with my church in Malaysia, FGA. they were here not too long ago.
- she's from VJC and she did TSD. see i'm from VJC but i didn't do TSD.
- her mother's freaky. my mother's freaky.
- she's like 20. i'm 20, but she's a year 4.

go check her out.

bolehwood awards

i've taken to adding titles to my blogs. it's one of those things good bloggers do. and also, i think you're supposed to have a conflict and a conclusion somewhere in the post.

watched a satirical play yesterday called the second first annual bolehwood awards. i thought it was great. it's times like these that make me think 'hey, malaysia isn't so bad after all'. i mean, we can be modern, sophisticated and critical.

don't ask me about the weird name for the comedy. it covered a whole range of issues like violence against women, inefficient government offices (hey, i wasn't the only one suffering huh? cool), islamic laws, government cronies, etc etc. it did this in an awards show format so that had very funny titles for movies like waterworks world: the jba(the water department) story. then they added that this movie took so much water to make it had to fill the whole of selangor with water but because of this, some parts of PJ didn't have water. haha...you'd get it if you were malaysian.

and then they had a skit about differences between races. how the chinese think the malays are lazy, the malays think the chinese are grabbing everything from under their noses, and how the indians are insignificant.

i guess i understand how theatre companies work. they make something with mass appeal, something that isn't intellectually challenging like bolehwood and their ticket prices are pretty high. this gives them the start-up money to do experimental stuff, the more artsy plays like 7ten, 7 ten minute plays which was bizarre. c'est genial. tickets for that were much less expensive but it didn't have mass appeal.

so, go Malaysian theatre!

eating pureed potato and chicken soup for meals makes me lust after nice, juicy steaks. i could really do with a nice filet mignon or a t-bone steak. and why is it that when i can't eat solid food, i start reading about steaks. like i read about a 2 kg steak in texas. this restaurant, amarillo steaks, doesn't charge anything if you order and finish a 2 kg steak plus trimmings in an hour. and then i was reading about steaks in the 'eat out' section of the newspaper. drool..

******

was packing my notes just now for things that i will bring to the US and i found mr leong's 'chinese new year goodies' and the 'valentine's special'. cheesy, but brings back fond memories. memories of when mr leong was actually a not too bad tutor...when i enjoyed econs tutorials. i guess that all changed in year 2 huh with that incident and then he suddenly clams up, treats us with kiddy gloves ... probably wrote me a bad report even though i really like the subject and to a lesser extent, him as an econs tutor.

******

also found when packing notes, maps of the NYC subway and a map of New York, NY printed off Yahoo! Travel. those were the days of wishful thinking......zipping across the city in the magnificent (not to forget acrid, crowded and expensive) subway from class to class, chilling on the steps of the Low Library, sitting on my window sill overlooking a chic street of New York, and all the perks of being a Columbia student! incidentally, my friend just showed me his fake id, and incidentally, it says that he's from columbia! also he's supposed to be 23 y/o.

******

unrelated: but i have to bring this up. remember that old man who relief taught us for like a long time during j1? what was his name? wasn't it the slackest time ever? i remember coming late for class one day and i had to sit on the front row. and i was very tired that day so i fell asleep and the next thing i knew, the tutorial was over and that guy woke me up to tell me it was over. haha...

******

all that stuff i printed also reminds me of the time i spent in L28, the old computer lab, surfing and printing stuff. quite fun but really, was it necessary? but it also reminds me of a really funny incident. i was printing some econs stuff when i went to the front to collect it, lo and behold there was this poster size printout ( i'm talking something like 2 feet by 3 feet) of the UPenn application. i surmised that either the would-be applicant was desperate to get into UPenn or he had chosen the plotter instead of the printer. but it was so funny....and the culprit was nowhere in sight.

i have been so shitty sick for the past 3 days.
it all started with a rough night on saturday. came back at 1am and had to be out of bed at 6am the next morning for service. woke up and i had chills and a sore throat. shrugged it off, take a bath and go for service.
come home, take a 5 hour nap and bam, when i wake up, i have all the symptoms of a flu. chills, phlegm, the works.
it was horrible being cold and piling on the blankets and then 5 minutes later i would be sweating and i would have to take everything off.
but right now, my whole mouth is riddled with cuts, pus and swelling. i have a friggin bad sore throat, the mother of all sore throats. my wisdom tooth is growing and i'm not sure if i have to take it out but in the meantime, it's cause a major swelling in the right side of my jaw. i cut my tongue while trying to clean the aforementioned tooth with the said tongue.
