things i've learnt today
1. always keep your parking ticket in a safe place immediately after you get it.
2. when you have lost a parking ticket, it most probably hasn't fallen into your underpants.
3. if you must must must check your underpants for a lost parking ticket, do so in private. if you must feel your bum in public, try not to make it too obvious.

the hulk
it wasn't a bad show, neither was it delightfully good. for one, i like the way that the movie is made in such a way that it resembles reading a comic book because of the screen-in-screen captures, the end of scene animations and the very nice marvel font when written narration is required.
what i don't get is the story. if bruce and his father were both subject to the same wacko genes and both were exposed to gamma radiation, why does bruce become the hulk and his father become a sponge?
and i don't like the way the movie starts off being quite scientific, quoting many many deep sounding terms and toward the end, it just dissipates into a superficial, untangible movie.
and i hate how directors like to leave open ends in their movies, in the hope that it does well in the box-office and continue where it has left off. if it's a bomb, everyone's kept in the dark for eternity.

it's time for me to post a few juicy posts now that i'm all happy and contented with life.

past couple of days have been hectic again. but when i say hectic, it would probably be a normal day for anyone else. here's how my daily schedule looks like:
9am - wake up, look at clock and subtract the time i slept the night before from the current time. if less than 8 hours, go back to sleep (my living algorithm)
11am - wake up again and panic since the sun is so bright, i think i might have slept until 2pm
1110 - eat miserable biscuits, read whatever part of the paper is left in the house (my dad brings the papers to work and leaves the uninteresting sections behind)
1130 - check handphone for messages to go out
1200 - watch some telly. if there is a message, bathe and take a helluva time to put on my contacts
1300 - go out, watch movie or bowl or whatever
1830 - come back in time for dinner, sometimes go out for dinner
2000 - reserve my seat on the sofa and prepare for a marathon of continuous 5 hours of live Wimbledon coverage
0200 - try to read as much of Life of Pi as possible until my eyelids refuse to keep open

i could get used to this life.

ironic thing about the whole incident as mentioned below was that as i was waiting, like for eternity, the great mahathir was talking on telly telling us that we should be 'cekap'. oi, pergi mampus la.

wah-lau-eh. i hate the inefficient way government offices are run in malaysia. today ah, i went to the jpj office (road transport department) to renew my driving licence. my friend, dapeng, told me she can do in 4 minutes. when i went there, my number was 1361 and the number they were serving was 1274. ka-ni-na. somemore out of the 7 counters they had, only two lazy ass officers opened counters, so that's 87 ppl waiting, and an average of 44 per queue. wah-piang.

i'm back!
missed me?
hope you did.
singapore was great. i did what i had to do. i got my bag and tennis shoes and as an added bonus, i bought a fcuk t-shirt which is uber cool. although the low-point of the trip must have been the bus rides with phua chu kang singing the sars song. oh my god. i have never heard anything so grotesque before. here are a few excerpts from the song:

sars is a virus we just want to minus
.....
use your brain x 10000 times ( i think it's the only line in the chorus)
.....
'sar-vivor'

it was yuck. reminded me of a rugrats song cause everyone just sang out of tune. but this one was not cute at all.

i have erased all evidence that i've ever been to singapore. closed bank accounts and cleared stuff.
but i missed my dear KL.

haven't done this in awhile because
1) i'm lazy
2) i'm busy
3) i didn't have the mood
4) i contradict myself all the time

i got the nus-asean scholarship. i am very tempted to just accept the offer, do a degree in maths and econs and just live a normal boring life in singapore. that way, everyone's happy right? parents get to keep their money, friends don't have to say goodbye and i don't have to face the risk of being unemployed for long periods of time. but i have to tell you that messiah is still top choice now and the only thing that can change my mind is ... well nothing's gonna change my mind. see, i contradict myself.

i'm heading to singapore in 8 hours time. while i'm there i will:
1) clear my stuff in aunt's place
2) settle hp bills
3) collect bloody a level certs
4) meet friends and yum cha singapore style
5) shop for tennis shoes and 30L back pack
6) i want to get tank tops, normal t-shirts but slightly smaller. i think they're good for clubbing, not that i'm a party animal. and i think they're good for wearing around in an american christian liberal arts college while i'm studying theatre and working my shifts as college janitor.
7) possible: may visit nus science fac place and just prove myself right, that nus sucks.

okay toodles. to those of you who've complained about me not blogging, here's the blog. and this stupid blogger keeps refreshing in the middle of my post. damn irritating.

read ephesians 6:4 ... prob the best verse in the bible.

They speak a funny English in India. They like words like bamboozle.- Yann Martel, Life of Pi
The only time I've heard the word 'bamboozle' being used was in college one day when the cricket team went up on stage during assembly to say something. Curiouser and curiouser.

messiah college is the commonwealth champion in their region for soccer. there must be something about my affinity toward that sport and my college's traditions.

i got science! i got science!
SO?

i believe i know enough of the williams' sisters to graduate with a degree in williamsology.
so for this post, i have decided to recapitulate the serena williams - justine henin-hardenne match, which i thought was lacklustre, a comedy of (unforced) errors, if you may.
first of all, the match was highly anticipated. serena was on a hot streak coming into the french, having won the past 4 majors. henin-hardenne however had handed serena her first defeat of the season, and on clay. serena looked like she had had a point to make as she blasted amelie mauresmo away in the quarters, amelie being the only other person who has defeated serena this year.
for williams non-knowers, the wiliams play very erratic tennis, and more often than not, when they lose, they beat themselves by making way to many unforced errors.
this match however was predicted as a serena williams whitewash. serena played awesome tennis in the previous round. as luck would have it however, this wasn't one of serena's better days and she went on to make more than 10 unforced errors in the first 2 games and losing the first set. the commentators seemed surprised that serena was losing but i guess they have not seen some of the spectacular losses serena has made, for example the rompings by her sister earlier in their career.
i was very irritated by the commentator, virginie something or other. she won the french open in 1978 but her comments were rather jarring. she commented that justine was playing very well, taking the pace off williams' balls, but this was not the case. it was more the case that serena wasn't moving well and going for too much. women's tennis has evolved very much since the 1970s and for the better part of the 1980s. in that era, women's tennis was a sideshow, they didn't play spectacularly, probably club tennis with short swings and few winners. there weren't any outstanding female players in that era who survived the late 80s when women's tennis became more competitive save for Chris Evert, Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova.
Back to the match, and in summary, Williams recouped in the second set, made less errors, and in the 3rd set, she lost 7-5. both women played very tight tennis, they were both obviously jittery. winners were far and few between. a thoroughly disappinting match, good thing i didn't watch it and went clubbing instead. ah-ha!

i hate it when people say negative things about me. i hate it even more when they're right.

i did my devotion today (finally) and i guess something struck me. last year, i liked doing things for others, but since i've come back to KL i've become more selfish. but the devotion talked about carrying your friend's burdens and doing good and that the harvest will be reaped if you (me) continue to do good.
i will start by playing tennis with a friend who i'm not very close to. well see, i'm not very keen on playing tennis with him because to be frank, i don't quite like him. he has been pretty harsh on me at times. but for the sake of god and for friendship, i will show kindness.
now you go do something good.
