so i'll be the first person from notworks to talk about prom, or rather senior dinner and dance. i had fun last night, thanks guys, but prob not as much fun as i would have imagined. i thought all you guys looked really nice dressed up, and that we're one cool group. i mean we're smart(!), cool and fun. okay that might have come out egotistical but so what? nobody reads this blog anyway..haha.
so the first part of the afternoon went like me finding out that my belt was too tight (my whole outfit was borrowed) so i followed lance around orchard and finally bought a belt at isetan for $19(original price $79 okay). lance got his pants, which was really velvety, did any of you guys get to touch it, i touched it when it still wasn't on him la, so that made it still nice. not making sense but moving along, since we had time to kill, lance suggested we go sit by the pool and relax. little did i know that like 90% of the year 2s would be at a salon, guys included, getting their hair, nails, makeup, and whatever done. so at 5 30, me and lance went back to the room, took turns to shower. actually lance showered first, and then when it was my turn to shower, lynette came with her aunt so all the girls left, and they turned off the bathroom light. i came out of the bathroom and was like..huh? where's everyone...so i took my time, put on my clothes and my eau de toilette and then thought that i looked pretty good cause there was this full lenght mirror in the room. but then i hadn't started on my hair. my hair is the death of me, it never does what i want it to do, rebellious only la.
lance and me took a cab to ritz and reached around 650, only to find that the friend who was supposed to bring my ticket had not arrived. in fact, he was still in the salon, having his hair highlighted when he had said so many times that he wouldn't colour his hair. argh....why does everyone have to look so good at the last minute and not tell me!! it's okay, i'm cool and calm. so while bumming around waiting for my ticket to come, we took pictures outside the ballroom. oh, and get this, louis knows my name..haha...for the record, we were in the same OG. and then when we bumped into each other once in school, he was like, i can't remember your name but i know it has two rhyming syllables. big help that is....well, he didn't want to take a picture with me :( .... but small setback...at least he learned my name ..woo hoo.
as i said, the entire ballroom was filled with koreans, whoops, year 2s, with all shades of not black, most of them looking pretty good, so i tried to blend in with the walls. i made this remark to lynette before the thing started which i still don't quite get, i told her that the amount of bleach and hair colour used to colour the hair in the ballroom was enough to colour a river(?).
after that it was just more picture taking. nobody really paid much attention to what was happening on stage, but one thing i know for sure, i didn't win a lucky draw prize! that totally sucked shit cause there were 60 prizes and about 700 people, so that made it about a 1 in 10 chance to win a prize, and our table had 11 people and no one won a prize. so unfair...i tell you, it was rigged. i demand a recount! glenn ong wasn't too good, but was sufficiently entertaining, yamaha-ha? but i think we could have hired a lesser know emcee who was equally well spoken no?
after about 40 flashes of bright light in my face, i started to get a bit dizzy, and sleepy. plus i was gorging on the food so i was really full, and the live music was .... not too good ... to say the least. the whole thing ended at about 1 am, with a dance after that but i reckon only the arts fac people would have stayed back for that....okay or the more onz people like the councillors. notworks people walked to the esplanade took some photos and decided that it was really tiring so we hopped into 2 cabs and went back to the hotel where we chilled before ruiqi and gang came. and then giri came. and then giri had this idea that it would be fun to walk down orchard road at 4 am, so we relented. it was fun, for the first 300 metres or so, until lynette said that she was very tired and kept lagging behind. being the gentlemen that we were, we walked back to the hotel, noticing that lanet was many paces in front of her prompting giri to come to the conclusion that tiredness depends on the direction you're walking in, in other words, it's a vector. nothing much happened after that. really tired from typing out stuff..well, it would have been better if we had gone clubbing, but then again, maybe not.
